What Coach Mode is and how to get in and out of it

Updated on 23 October 2026

On this page · 3 sections

Coach Mode is club management adapted to the phone, for use at the venue. It isn't another account or another app: you have the same permissions and the same teams as in management, and whatever you save here is what you see on the computer.

It has three sections, in the bar at the bottom:

  • "Today": the training in progress, what's up next and what's still to do.
  • "Calendar": trainings and matches, as a list or by month.
  • "More": switch club, switch area, notifications and installing the app.

From there you open the attendance of a training session and the call-up of a match, with its prep sheet. Live statistics, planning and club settings stay in management.

Who goes straight in

When you enter Cantera (when signing in or opening the installed app), the entry decides where you go:

  • If you're a coach at the club and on a touch screen, you go straight to Coach Mode, unless you've chosen management on this device.
  • On a computer, or if you're a club administrator, you go to management, unless you've chosen Coach Mode on this device.
  • If your account also has the Portal, you choose once under "Where do you want to go?" and the choice is saved on this device.

Coach Mode is only there for people who can see trainings, call-ups or the calendar.

Getting in from management

  1. In the management header, click "Coach Mode".
  2. From then on, this device opens in Coach Mode.

Going back to management

  1. In Coach Mode, go to More.
  2. Under "Switch to…", tap "Club management".

The choice is saved on this device: next time, you go to management. If you have the Portal, you'll find it under "Switch to…" too.

With read-only access you see everything, but the screen says "You only have read access." and the save buttons don't appear. If you're limited to some teams, "Today" only shows those; in the calendar you see the others, but you can only open your own.
