Groups and permissions: who sees and does what

Each user has the access their groups give them. A group is a named set of permissions: instead of setting up each person one by one, you set up the group and add people to it.

The levels

Each permission has one of three levels:

  • "Blocked": the person has no access to that part of the app.
  • "Read": they can see it but not change it.
  • "Full": they can see it and change it.

Three permissions use a different scale, "Blocked", "Own teams" or "All teams": the "Global schedule" and, in the Statistics section (statistics module), "Live tracking" and "Reports".

Someone in several groups gets, for each permission, the highest level among them.

The groups that come with the club

A new club starts with twelve groups, each with a description and starting permissions. Their names are in Portuguese: Administração, Treinadores (coaches), Coordenação, Direcção, Secretaria, Área Financeira, Gestão de Sócios, Team Managers, Analistas, Scouting, Departamento Médico and Escolar. You can adjust all of them except Administração, the system group: it has full access and cannot be edited or deleted, but you can add users to it and remove them.

Creating or editing a group

  1. Open Settings › Groups & permissions and select "New group", or a group's name to edit it.
  2. Enter the "Name", which is required, and a "Description" if you like.
  3. Under "Permissions", choose the level for each item. Items are arranged by section (Settings, Club, Sports and the rest), each showing how many have access. To find an item, use "Search permissions…".
  4. Select "Save".
  5. Under "Users", look the person up in "Search member…" and select "Add user". It is saved straight away. In a new group, you can only add users after saving it: until then, the card says "Save the group to add users to it."

Adjusting one person

On each user's record, in Users, the "Permissions" card shows the same list. On each item, "Group" shows in brackets the level the person inherits from their groups. Choosing another level overrides the groups for that person only, up or down, and the item is marked "Overrides the group". To go back to the groups' level, choose "Group" again and select "Save".
