How Cantera is organised
Updated on 21 October 2026
The club, the sport, the season and the team: the four building blocks behind everything else, and where athletes and staff fit in.

Cantera organises your club into four building blocks, one inside the other. It is worth understanding this order early on: almost everything you do in the app happens in a team, within a season.
The four building blocks
- Club: your club's account on Cantera. It holds the club profile (name, logo, contacts and address) and the facilities where the club trains and plays at home. You will find it all under Settings › Club.
- Sport: the sport the club plays, currently futsal. Each sport has its own catalogues (age groups, categories, positions, staff roles, match events), and it is where you create the teams, under Sports › Teams.
- Season: the sporting year, with a start and an end date. Only one season is active at a time, and it is the one the app opens by default. Manage them under Seasons.
- Team: belongs to the sport, not to the season. Your Under-17s are the same team from one year to the next. In each season, the team gets its own season record, with dates and objectives, under Teams.
Where people fit in
- Athletes, guardians, staff and club members (sócios) are people of the club, and they live under Members. Each person's record carries over from one season to the next.
- An enrolment links an athlete to a team in a season. When the season changes, the athlete loses nothing: they get a new enrolment. You can see them all under Athletes.
- Staff are assigned to a team in each season, with a role (staff roles are defined in the sport). You can see them all under Staff.
