Creating competitions and matches

Matches belong to a team in a season. A match can be part of a competition (a league, a tournament or a cup) or be a preparation match. Before you start, add the opponents and the match venues where you will play away: a match needs an opponent, and an away match takes its venue from the match venues.

Step 1: open the team's matches

  1. Open Teams, go into the team and select "View matches". You can also open Matches and choose the "Team".
  2. On the right, under "Competitions", are the team's competitions this season. Select one to open its page.

Step 2: create the competition

  1. Select "Add competition".
  2. Under "Competition", choose "Create new" and enter the name. Use "Reuse" for a competition the team already played in another season.
  3. Choose the "Type": "League", "Tournament" or "Cup". Leave "Official competition" switched on if it is one.
  4. Under "Has phases?", choose "No" for a simple competition. With "Yes", the competition is created empty and the phases are added later, on the competition page.
  5. Without phases, fill in the setup. In a league, enter the "Rounds", "Total teams" and "Matchdays" ("Suggest" works out the matchdays for you); the points come from the modality settings. In a cup or a tournament, choose "One leg" or "Two legs".
  6. If you want the schedule ready-made, switch on "Create all matches?". You set the dates and times later.
  7. Select "Save". The competition page opens straight afterwards.

Step 3: add the teams

  1. On the competition page, open the "Teams" tab.
  2. Under "Add team", choose the opponents taking part. Each choice is saved straight away, with no Save button.
  3. In a competition with phases, first create each phase on the "Phases" tab, with "Add phase", and choose the "Type" ("League" or "Knockout"). Then add the teams to each phase.

Step 4: create the matches

  1. On the competition's "Matches" tab, select "Generate matches" to create one match per matchday (in a knockout, one per leg). If there are already matches, only the missing ones are created.
  2. For a single match, select "Add match". Preparation matches, outside any competition, are created with "Add match" on the Matches page.
  3. In the match, under "Matchup", your team goes on one side and the opponent on the other: the "Home team" plays at home and the "Away team" plays away. In a competition match, the opponents come from the phase's teams.
  4. Under "When and where", enter the "Date" and "Time", which are required. In a competition match, the "Round" (in a knockout, the "Leg") is required too. At home, the "Venue" is one of the club's facilities; away, the "Opponent's venue" is a match venue, suggested from the opponent's default venue.
  5. The "Format" (periods and minutes) comes from the team or the modality; change it only if this match is different.
  6. Select "Save".
